The Eden Project

How would you do

if you had to face the same test as Adam and Eve?

If you were put in a garden and you had to obey

just

one

law?

Do you find yourself thinking
I would never have taken the fruit?

How did you do when you were last faced
with a temptation?

Did you run into the safety of God's arms

or

did you listen to the tempter?

How long would you have lasted
in the Garden of Eden?

How long would any of us have lasted?

We cannot go back to undo what has been done.

We can be thankful for God's answer.

Jesus

the cross

an invitation to receive
forgiveness for our sins

and the renewed opportunity

to walk again with the Lord
in the cool of the day.

Collapse of a Civilization

We are watching

the collapse

of our civilization.

Future history
will say as much.

Scholars will hypothesize
on the details
of its downfall,

and wonder if
the interplay between
economic factors
and social decay
was as strong
as some propose.

Others will study
the legal structures
and political systems,

speculating on
the seeming success,
then fantastic failures
of governments to halt
the downward demise.

Corrupt consciousness,

moral meltdown,

societies sickening slide

won't be seen
in its true darkness,

for humanity is
ever forgiving
of its own sins,

and sadly

that is why

the

collapse

of a civilization

can continue in our days.

This Little Life

This little life

so tightly wound

dreaming of something

beyond our reach.

Hoping but helpless

to move forward

in our sphere of senses without You.

Muddled thought

wishing to express itself

more clearly

than tangent ideas

forming as distant clouds

over a speckled sunset.

Your truth cuts through

and stands coherent

amid the sea of drifting lies.

I can cling to it

as it anchors me

and gives me purpose

in this fragmented world.

I will not forget

Your Word as I press forward

to complete My calling

in some small token way.

May your peace settle upon me

May your peace settle upon me,

in this time of trial,

and turbulence,

when no one can tell me

what is actually happening,

because nobody knows.

Except you.

You have seen it all already,

being outside time and space

has a clear advantage.

You are never taken by surprise,

having to change tack mid course.

You have created all,

and your timing is upon this world.

You will usher in the next

at the right time,

in your time,

and no one and nothing can change that.

This brings me great comfort,

knowing that the One ultimately in charge

sees my anxious heart,

and speaks peace to Me,

and to all who would listen.

Father's Day

The pain

we feel when

things are not going well

for our child

is
a tiny glimpse
of the Father heart of God
for us

when we

choose

what is not
the very best
for our lives.

He is sad

not an angry sad

or a disappointed sad

or a frustrated sad

but

a sad so wrapped in
intense
unconditional
everlasting
love

that when we catch
a glimpse
it brings us
to our knees

and

into the warm again embrace

of the

ever present

Father

of us all.

Slow Burning Faith

Slow burning faith

that keeps the glowing spark alight,

and clings to the Spirit breathed promise

through years of frustration,

and yet to be seen fulfillment.

Slow burning faith
that remains in the prayer room,
when disappointment
and disillusionment
have all but cleared it
to silence.

Slow burning faith
that holds on
against impossible odds,
believing for a miracle
that appears to be permanently
lost in the post.

Slow burning faith
that knows the trustworthiness
of the Sender,
and expects the promise will arrive as perfectly created
as when it was first mentioned.

Slow burning faith
that is willing to keep the fuse lit
for decades if necessary,
before the miracle explosion
changes the life landscape forever.

So don't let doubters quench with their query's,
don't become weary with waiting,
too tired to try anymore.

Fan the tiny flame.

Wait for the answer

that will blow all

unbelief to hell.

Raise another standard
to God's faithfulness,

and to miracles
that come to those
with slow burning faith.
